Krav Maga – Its Principles and Techniques

* Defense against weapons: This refers to defending against weapons like guns, knives, or sharp objects the fighters find threatening.
* Defense against attacks: Fighters are taught to defend themselves from attacks that come from every direction until the enemies are knocked down. This includes defense against kicks, punches, strikes, etc.
* Techniques using arms: The basic strike in Krav Maga is a punch. There are different types of punches like low punch, straight punch, uppercut and palm-heel strike. Some of the boxing strikes are also taught to make the strike powerful.
* Techniques using legs: Low kicks are mostly used than high kicks, though high kicks are taught at higher levels. Some of the kicks are side kick, front kick, back kick and round kick. Knee strikes are also used here.
* Techniques using head: This is a method in which head is used as a weapon to attack by generating a blow at the opponents’ torso.
* Throws: Krav Maga does not allow fighters to move from the ground while fighting, thus throws are not used much. Some of the similar techniques taught are two leg take-downs, wrist locks and hip throws.
* Ground fighting: This refers to the taking of the best position to fight on the ground. Fighters are trained to defend themselves against chokes, headlocks and punches.
